About

My passion for diabetes stems to my family history of Type 2 Diabetes. While I have not been diagnosed with diabetes, I saw my uncle go through all the complications... the kidney failure, dialysis, heart disease, amputations, etc. I saw how hard it was for my uncle and family and when he passed, I wondered "how could I have helped him?" 

At that time I was a school teacher, but I ended up making a career change and went back to school and received my bachelors degree in nursing and became a Registered Nurse  and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES). My goal was to help as many people as possible... to educate them and empower them to prevent complications of diabetes so no one with diabetes has to go through what my uncle went through. 

During these five years as a Diabetes Educator, my purpose and passion has amplified! I have seen that there is SO much more to diabetes, especially for those on insulin. I see the judgement, the stigma, the pain, the scars, and the burnout that goes along with diabetes. I see how those diagnosed need more support, education, empathy, and less judgment. I am here to help you, to empower you... I'm not only here to help you survive, but to THRIVE with diabetes!
